HELLO!

I'm Kylie

And I'm looking forward to working with you!

My photography journey is as unique as anyones. I was a creator from a young age, but I started my art and photography journey in high school when I used the majority of my electives to take art classes. After taking two photography classes and a 3D art class, I was selected for the honors art class. Here, I focused on photography again and worked with a DSLR camera for the first time. My art was also displayed in a gallery for the first time, though not my photography. Instead, it was a 2D charcoal drawing. Working with several different mediums, though, helped me learn more about composition techniques and how they overlap.

In college, I went back to my science roots, graduating magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in exercise and sports science with minors in psychology and chemistry. During undergrad, I was a four-year softball student-athlete, where I was able to make many connections within the athletics department. I started working in sports information as a statistician, but found my way back to the camera and became the lead photographer for the department. During this time I additionally learned Adobe Photoshop and InDesign and spent my senior season working, not only as a statistician but as a photographer and graphic designer as well.

Why sports photography?

I grew up as an athlete. I played 14 different sports throughout my childhood and still remain active. Softball was my primary sport, and I still play when I can. Currently, I snowboard and train in parkour. I fell in love with the competition and feel at home at the field/gym/rink/wherever sports are happening. Capturing these moments is some of the most fun I have had. I also know how important it is for the athletes and families to be able to have these memories and keep them forever.

Continuing Education

I wasn't sure what I wanted to do with my life after undergrad, so I continued with my education, getting an M.S. in athletic training. While I was a full-time student and attending clinicals I supplemented my income with sports photography. I made new connections at St. Cloud State and covered most of their events when I wasn't working on my Master's. I completed my degree in 2020 but have continued with sports photography and graphic design since.
